9x13 inch Baking Dish
Large Skillet
Large Pot for Noodles
- 1 lb ground beef (85% lean)
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 1 10.5 oz can cream of mushroom soup (condensed)
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- to taste salt and black pepper
Preheat oven to 350°F. Cook noodles to al dente; drain. In a skillet, brown beef with onion; drain fat.
To the beef, add soup, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir into a creamy sauce.
Stir cooked noodles into the beef sauce. Transfer to a greased 9x13" dish. Top with cheese.
Bake uncovered for 25-30 mins until cheese is melted and bubbly. Let stand 5 mins before serving.
Pro Tips: For the best texture, cook your egg noodles to al dente as they will soften more while baking. To easily add vegetables, stir in a cup of frozen peas or mixed veggies with the noodles. For a flavor boost, add a teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce to the beef while browning. This casserole is a perfect make-ahead meal—assemble it, cover, and refrigerate overnight before baking.
