Equipment

  • Ice Cream Maker Essential for churning.
  • Citrus Juicer For fresh orange juice.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1.5 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice (about 3 oranges)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp orange extract
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • Optional: red and yellow food coloring

Instructions

  • Freeze ice cream maker bowl according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • In a large bowl, combine heavy cream, milk, orange juice, sugar, orange extract, vanilla extract, and salt. Whisk until sugar is dissolved.
  • If desired, add a few drops of red and yellow food coloring to achieve a pale orange color. Mix well.
  • Pour mixture into ice cream maker and churn for 20-30 minutes until soft-serve consistency.
  • Transfer to a freezer-safe container. Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface. Cover and freeze for at least 4-6 hours, or overnight, until firm.
  • Let sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before scooping. Serve and enjoy.

Notes

Pro Tips: Use freshly squeezed orange juice for the best flavor – Valencia oranges are juiciest. Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface before freezing to prevent ice crystals. For a no-churn version, see the notes below. Orange extract is key to that authentic creamsicle taste. Add orange zest for even more flavor, or stir in mini chocolate chips at the end of churning.
