Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken (rotisserie chicken is perfect)
  • 8 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • to taste salt and black pepper
  • 1 12-count package King's Hawaiian Original Sweet Rolls
  • 6 slices provolone or cheddar cheese, cut in half
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp everything bagel seasoning or poppy seeds (optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix shredded chicken and bacon. In another bowl, whisk maple syrup, mayo, Dijon, vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Pour over chicken and mix well.
  • Slice rolls in half horizontally. Place bottom halves in a greased 9x13" dish. Layer with cheese, then the chicken filling. Place top halves of rolls on top.
  • Brush roll tops with melted butter. Sprinkle with seasoning. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F for 15 mins. Uncover and bake 5-10 more mins until golden.
  • Let cool 5 minutes. Garnish with parsley, slice into individual sliders, and serve warm.

Notes

Pro Tips: For the best texture, lightly brush the bottom rolls with mayonnaise before adding cheese to create a moisture barrier. Use a serrated knife to slice the whole pack of rolls evenly in half. For incredible depth of flavor, use the drippings from cooking the bacon to sauté a finely chopped onion before adding it to the chicken mixture.
