Equipment

  • 9x13 inch Baking Pan Essential for the right brownie thickness.
  • Piping Bags or Zip-Top Bags For decorating the football shapes neatly.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, spooned & leveled
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt
  • 0.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 cup prepared chocolate frosting
  • 2 tbsp prepared white frosting
  • 0.25 cup green sprinkles (for 'field')

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch pan or line with parchment paper.
  • Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat. Whisk in sugar, then eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
  • Sift flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder into wet ingredients. Fold with a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Spread batter evenly in prepared pan. Bake 25-30 mins, until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Let brownies cool completely in pan on a wire rack (at least 1 hour). For best results, chill in fridge for 30-60 mins until firm.
  • Lift brownies from pan. Cut into squares. Spread green sprinkles on a platter. Place brownies on top.
  • Pipe a chocolate football shape onto each brownie square. Use white frosting to pipe two lines and three 'stitches' for laces.
  • Arrange on platter and serve at room temperature.

Notes

Pro Tips: For the fudgiest texture, do not overbake. The brownies are done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Cool the brownies completely (chilling is even better) before decorating to prevent the icing from melting. Use a small piping bag or a zip-top bag with a tiny corner snipped off for the cleanest football lines.
