Equipment

  • 9x13 inch Baking Dish For baking the cobbler.
  • Mixing Bowls For preparing bananas and batter.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a bowl, toss sliced bananas with brown sugar and cinnamon until well coated.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat melted butter, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, stirring until just combined.
  • Pour half the batter into the prepared dish. Layer the caramelized bananas over the batter. Pour the remaining batter over the bananas.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. Cool slightly before serving.
  • Serve warm, optionally topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Pro Tips: Use ripe but firm bananas for the best flavor and texture. Do not overmix the cobbler batter – mix just until combined. Let the cobbler cool for 10-15 minutes before serving to allow it to set. For an authentic bananas foster kick, add a tablespoon of dark rum to the banana mixture. A scoop of vanilla ice cream is the perfect finishing touch.
